“What burden do you bear, Men of Rohan?”
— Imrahil, The Return of the King by J.R.R. Tolkien

Announcing A Long-extended Party’s fan-made Deluxe Expansion for The Lord of the Rings: The Card Game.

The countryside of Rohan buzzes with rumors of vanished horses and Dunlendings slipping across the Isen like phantoms. Though the brave and cunning heroes of this story begin their journey as a simple honor guard for the queen of Rohan, they will soon find themselves in the midst of danger, intrigue, and all-out war. Your fellowship will battle from the Beacon of Erelas and across the Eastfold in pursuit of dangerous hillmen and worse. But to what end are they striking at Rohan’s borders, and what price will you have to pay for peace?

A Long-extended Party is pleased to announce Children of Eorl, the first in a line of free, fan-made expansions for The Lord of the Rings: The Card Game, intended to honor and extend the legacy of the greatest card game in Middle-Earth.

Forth, Eorlingas!

As the beginning of the Oaths of the Rohirrim cycle, Children of Eorl begins with the heroes accompanying Queen Morwen Steelsheen on a long pilgrimage from her home in Lossarnach along the Great West Road. Their journey is interrupted by a simple twist of fate near the hill called Erelas, which draws these characters into a conflict in which the very soul of Rohan is at hazard.

The first quest in this deluxe expansion, Ambush at Erelas, pits the heroes against a band of Dunlending raiders and Pillaging Swordsmen who seek to steal weapons and goods from the innocent villagers. Battle through the encampment and Drive Them Away before the brigands destroy the camp!

A victory in the Erelas encampment is short-lived, however, as The Battle for the Beacon takes the heroes to recapture one of the ancient signal beacons of Gondor. Hold the beacon in a hectic melee until reinforcements arrive! Unfortunately, the reinforcements bring ill news, which sends the heroes racing north toward civilization – and danger.

The final quest of this deluxe expansion, The Horse-Lord’s Ire, sees a brutal Orc Battalion ravaging the countryside, kidnapping King Thengel’s prize horses. Can the heroes journey across the Wild Country of the Eastfold in time to rescue the horses? And what will they learn of the orcs’ devilish desires?

Worthy of Remembrance

With the people of Rohan in dire need, who shall they turn to? Children of Eorl introduces a new hero, King Thengel of Rohan. With his ability to lead Rohan allies in daring maneuvers and rally them in the face of defeat, there are none more able. Designed to bolster the fan-favorite Rohan archetype, players will be able to deploy Thengel and his Light-footed Steed against the forces of darkness massing on Rohan’s borders. Along with three other heroes designed to boost beloved playstyles, the Children of Eorl will need to fight boldly – for if they fall, who shall stand?

Common Cause

“Reward that which is given: fealty with love, valour with honour.”
— Denethor, The Return of the King by J.R.R. Tolkien

In days long before the War of the Ring, the free peoples of Men and Elves and Dwarves kept their own counsel, content to carve out their homes in disparate corners of Middle-Earth. With the release of Children of Eorl, A Long-extended Party is happy to introduce a new keyword to highlight the bonds of trust that unite a people. Devoted.

As the heroes of Middle-Earth will always seek common cause among strangers and friends alike, the Devoted keyword allows allies to enter play without a resource match – as long as your heroes have enough in common with your new allies!

The Devoted keyword gives player cards the following ability: While each hero you control shares at least one trait with an ally with the Devoted keyword, that ally does not require a resource match. Therefore, if all your heroes have either the Rohan or Warrior trait (or a mix of both!), the Deeping Bowman would not need a resource match – even in a deck without leadership!

We hope this new keyword brings added versatility to each sphere, as well as creates exciting deckbuilding opportunities as each player attempts to make the most of their hero lineup.

A Long-extended Party

Rohan is under siege on two fronts. Death and defilement lurk in every shadow. When called to fulfill the Oaths of the Rohirrim, will you stand for righteousness? Will you battle through the hills and plains against foes new and old? Gather your forces. The party isn’t over yet.
