But suddenly the Mirror went altogether dark, as dark as if a hole had opened in the world of sight, and Frodo looked into emptiness. In the black abyss there appeared a single Eye that slowly grew, until it filled nearly all the Mirror. So terrible was it that Frodo stood rooted, unable to cry out or to withdraw his gaze. The Eye was rimmed with fire, but was itself glazed, yellow as a cat’s, watchful and intent, and the black slit of its pupil opened on a pit, a window into nothing.
The Fellowship of the Ring by J.R.R. Tolkien

A Long-extended Party is pleased to present The Mirror of Galadriel, our first modular scenario for The Lord of the Rings: The Card Game.

After its debut at Con of the Rings 2025, The Mirror of Galadriel is ready for more adventurers to gaze into its depths. As a modular scenario, The Mirror of Galadriel will provide many opportunities to explore the expansive encounter library of The Lord of the Rings: The Card Game in new ways. This release includes a Scenario and Villain module to get players started mixing and matching encounter sets they already own. Future Scenarios and Villains may be released for players to experience new visions in the Mirror!

A good rule of thumb for players new to The Mirror of Galadriel is to check that they have four modules when setting up: a Scenario, a Villain, Wave 1, and Wave 2. Since a Scenario and Villain are included in this release, players will only need to find encounter sets from their own collection to fill out Wave 1 and Wave 2. (See our preview article for a full explanation and comprehensive list of encounter sets that currently work with The Mirror of Galadriel.)

The Mirror of Galadriel has a “fail forward” design philosophy, meaning you can carry some progress forward with you into future attempts even after failure. The Mirror of Galadriel is punishing by design, echoing the challenge found in roguelike videogames such as Dead Cells, Balatro, Hades, and Slay the Spire. Like those games, players are organically encouraged to keep trying to conquer the Mirror’s visions by acquiring multiple boons through repeated attempts. For a true challenge, daring players may try to conquer the Mirror with as few boons as possible.

Like Frodo, players might find themselves entranced by the Mirror’s visions, unable to withdraw their gaze until the nightmares in the Mirror are finally defeated! Look as long as you dare, but beware–you never know what will stare back…

A Contract with the Lady of Lórien

The Gifts of Galadriel is a new ALeP contract included in the release of The Mirror of Galadriel. It comes with several Gift attachments that round out the gifts already represented in the player card pool.

Whether your plan is to play these Gifts alongside The Gifts of Galadriel, bounce some Hobbits, or simply lower your threat in a Dwarf deck without Nori, these attachments offer various avenues of strategy for new and existing deck types. Experiment and let us know what you discover!

Last but not least, this standalone scenario would not be complete without a traditional alt-art hero. Courtesy of the art commissioning project FArCom, we are pleased to offer an alt-art Galadriel hero with this set. Thank you to all the fans who support that project. If you enjoy ALeP content and do not currently support FArCom, please consider doing so. It allows us to continue supporting artists while offering you beautiful new cards.
